I tend to shun all social media as it's too intrusive for my likes. I did have a LinkedIn account in 2006 but even then only used it for a couple of weeks; it offered me nothing I couldn't get elsewhere. I may have a Twitter account somewhere but no clue to it's name.
My family are all on Facebook, but even that is no reason. E-mails/phone calls work. What we chat about has stack all to do with the rest of the world.

Linkedin is a fucking sack of shite for self-promoting shitcunts. If only there was some fat, nutsack-faced cunt with a glove with some fucking jewels in it to snap all of those cunts out of existence, world would be a better place...

To be fair, if you work in digital marketing and you have an issue having a Facebook / LinkedIn account then prehaps you should find another career. I work as head of marketing for a web dev company and would consider it pretty important for anyone i take on.
Also again with many on here, we generate huge levels of business both for ourselves and our clients on these platforms. LinkedIn in particularly is an excellent for generating B2B leads.

People on LinkedIn who"like" companies like Salesforce
So, what about if you're a Salesforce implementation consultant for instance, who wants to stay up to date on Salesforce product developments, and see how Salesforce developers are customising the product?
Strikes me that LinkedIn would be the perfect place to like a company in order to tailor your newsfeed.
In fact, do you understand how social media works?

Linkedin has become facebook for businesses.
It used to be excellent back in the day, now it's full of stupid videos.

Used correctly, LinkedIn is a very powerful marketing tool. Excellent for lead generation.

I do find it quite funny to watch videos of uk workmen pranking each other and then count the number of yanks in the comments saying they need to sue.

Facebook has meant I can stay in touch with people that I met while living abroad so for that reason I like it. The advertising has become fucking annoying though, can’t even watch a decent Lads Bible video without having the new Volvo shoved down your throat.

Which one do you use the most often, Divros?
I'd imagine all of them, as they describe your character quite aptly.

LinkedIn is for proper cunts
Facebook is for morons
Instagram is for people obsessed with how they look

Funny you mention Salesforce, we use their software for our CRM.
It's brilliant in a sense it's not your typical "off the shelf" type, but as it's more a web based application the coding for it is fucking difficult.
Social media in the main is fucking shit, full of spastics.

I'm on both for work, not with a personal profile.
LinkedIn is utter crap but people seem to think they have to be on it for progression. Absolute bollocks. As said before, virtue signalling and arse-licking is all it is about. It amuses me when someone I know (not necessarily like) loses a decent job, takes a lesser one, but doesn't update their profile, or updates it to 'Formerly Director at...'
Facebook is a good marketing tool because it's tentacles are everywhere and reaching customers/potential customers is easy. The amount of shit on there is phenomenal and wading through it to find anything worthwhile is draining.
The thing that surprises me most is the amount of and quality of crap posted by my actual friends and family, people I actually know. They seemed normal before and now I think they're a bit weird.

I use both as contact databases. In both cases business. If I want to chat with friends and family I do that.

"WHU, guitars, bands, sheds"
Sheds?
I'm guessing that you're a man of a 'certain age'.
I like a shed myself. Start worrying when sheds are first on the list.

I am on Facebook but I seem to use it in a different way to most.
I have almost no 'friends' and those I do are like me and probably post an average of twice a year each.
IU am signed up to lots of groups about things that interest me, e.g WHU, guitars, bands, sheds etc.
This seems to work well as I never see any of the crap that others moan about.
Linkedin is to build up useful contacts in case I need a job. Don't actually look at it.
